Description
Today’s play provocation invited children into the gentle world of caregiving. A cozy space was set up with a pretend baby and all the essentials little caregivers might need—bottles, blankets, pillows, and more! This nurturing invitation gave children a chance to express empathy, practice routines, and step into caring roles through imaginative play.

Age Group
Preschoolers (3 to 5 years old)
Materials Needed
Baby doll(s)
Blankets, baby clothes, socks, teether
Toy bottles, food storage and feeding items
Small bed or basket
Soft pillows for added comfort
Observations Children immediately gravitated toward the baby, taking turns rocking, feeding, and tucking it in. One child whispered, “Shhh, baby’s sleeping,” while another offered a bottle and patted the doll’s back. Their gentle voices and thoughtful actions filled the room with warmth.
